What will be needed to build a Soekris system?
- application packager, packages binaries and config files from an existing compile system. When you update the existing system, you update the package and drop it on the Soekris. Structure package information similar to Debian packages, or JAR files. See the Learning Java book or the PortaBoom.MiscNotes page for more listings of package metadata for use as examples
- package installer
- new Linux kernel with initrd image
- system init scripts (use Lua for scripting in the initrd image?)
external method of controlling the Soekris box. Web pages with CGI interface? Java application that talks to the Soekris host?
Installer CD that can be used to 'flash' the Soekris from a computer that's booted to a custom run-from-CD install, and the image to be flashed is downloaded to the Soekris via a PXEboot.
